“It’s slightly difficult to tell where the edge of the building is, because it’s reflecting the forest.”
- James Grose
We produced this short film featuring the voice of the architect, James Grose, for the Jam Factory’s exhibition ‘steel: art, design, architecture’.
We’d filmed Plantbank at Mt Annan to produce short films for BVN’s presentations at the 2014 World Architecture Festival – focusing at that stage on the building’s performance as workplace, scientific research facility, learning centre and repository for over 4,000 Australian native plants – in short, a ‘living laboratory’.
So a few years later it was a pleasure to re-visit the footage of this award winning project, to focus on its materiality, reflecting the Australian Botanic Garden’s Cumberland forest landscape.
