“As a person who’s totally blind, it’s been a great chance to break down the various perceptions of people who have a bit of a skewed insight into what a person can or can’t achieve.”
- Gerrard Gosens
This suite of four videos featured Gerrard Gosens OAM, the 2018 patron for International Day of People with Disability, and encouraged people to get involved in events around the day.
It’s impossible to do justice to Gerrard’s achievements – as a Paralympian, a triathlete, a chocolatier, and adventurer – who’s summited Mt Everest, appeared on Dancing with the Stars, flown a plane around Queensland and hung out with Stevie Wonder.
Over the course of a few days we tried to get a sense of some of this – filming him training at the Queensland Sports and Athletics Centre, at his shop on Brisbane’s Queen Street and riding into the surf on the Sunshine Coast. Our great thanks go to Gerrard for having us hang around, and to his training partner, who kindly provided the triathlon footage from his recent competitions in Western Australia and France.
