“Good architecture is potentially seen as something for the wealthy or for the privileged, but we wanted to get across good design, good architecture is for everyone… we wanted to respect our community.” – James Carey, Bankstown City Council

We made this short film on the award winning project by FJMT, as part of our suite of screen content for the 2015 National Architecture Awards, held at the UQ School of Advanced Engineering. The ultra wide format is due to the event’s 13 metre wide screen dimensions.

Working to a tight deadline between the jury decisions and awards announcements, and to strict secrecy, we made six of these ‘client commentary’ videos – each on the project winning the highest honour in its awards category – in this case, the Emil Sodersten Award for Interior Architecture.

Our other videos in this suite featured:

  • Macquarie CEO Nicholas Moore, and Macquarie Executive Director Corporate Operations Group, Will Walker – 50 Martin Place, Sydney
  • Jesse Bennett and Anne-Marie Campagnolo – Planchonella House, Cairns
  • Jonathan Efkarpidis – NewActon Precinct, Canberra
  • Professor Ove Hoegh-Guldberg and Dr David Harris – the University of Queensland’s Global Change Institute, Brisbane
  • Air Vice Marshall Chris Spence AO (Ret’d) – Shrine of Remembrance, Melbourne
